These certifications are granted by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), an independent organization in the United States that evaluates surgeons and medical centers around the world based on extremely strict criteria regarding surgical experience, clinical outcomes, patient safety, continuous performance monitoring, and compliance with international quality protocols.
Breast cancer continues to be the most common form of cancer diagnosed among women worldwide, and the success of treatment depends largely on early diagnosis and access to medical teams that meet the highest international standards of quality and safety.
A recognition that reflects experience in breast oncological surgery
The “Master Surgeon in Breast Treatment” accreditation is intended for surgeons who demonstrate expertise in the surgical treatment of breast conditions, especially breast cancer, but also the implementation of high standards of safety, quality and multidisciplinary patient care.
For Dr. Dănuț Dejeu, the certification comes as an international validation of the work carried out in oncological surgery and complements the experience accumulated over the years in minimally invasive surgery, hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery and the treatment of oncological patients.
“Each SRC accreditation involves a rigorous evaluation process. Surgical experience is not enough. The results obtained, work protocols, multidisciplinary collaboration and the way the patient is followed before and after the intervention are analyzed. For us, this certification represents confirmation that we can offer patients in Romania care at internationally recognized standards”, says Dr. Dănuț Dejeu.
Currently, Doctor Dejeu’s team holds four international Master Surgeon accreditations:
- Dr. Dănuț Dejeu – Master Surgeon in Breast Treatment, obtained in 2026.
- Dr. Viorel Dejeu – Master Surgeon in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery
- Dr. Viorel Dejeu – Master Surgeon in Metabolic and Bariatric Revisional Surgery, an accreditation that made him the first surgeon in Europe to obtain this certification;
- Dr. Dănuț Dejeu – Master Surgeon in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery
Four accreditations in one team, an integrated approach
The new certification strengthens the position of the Doctor Dejeu Team, founded by brothers Viorel and Dănuț Dejeu, which brings together surgeons, psychologists, nutritionists and other specialists involved in integrated patient management.
In the spring of this year, the two surgeons also went through the SRC reaccreditation process for bariatric and metabolic surgery, confirming the maintenance of the standards of excellence already validated at the international level.
Today, the team operates in five centers in Romania and treats over 2,000 patients annually, developing programs dedicated to bariatric surgery, as well as oncological and minimally invasive surgery.
The new accreditation joins a broader process of development of the Doctor Dejeu Team. In 2026, the team launched, together with Dr. Ina Petrescu – primary physician in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive microsurgery – a Post-Bariatric Plastic Surgery Center, in partnership with MedLife. The initiative complements the treatment of bariatric patients by integrating reconstructive and body remodeling surgery after massive weight loss, in a medical path coordinated by a multidisciplinary team.
Why international accreditations matter
In a medical system where patients are increasingly attentive to objective quality indicators, international accreditations represent one of the most important guarantees regarding medical standards.
Unlike attending conferences or earning academic degrees, SRC certifications involve auditing clinical practice and verifying measurable indicators such as volume of interventions, complication rates, long-term outcomes, safety protocols, and ongoing performance monitoring. These assessments are repeated periodically, meaning that standards must be maintained consistently, not just demonstrated once.
